Ash + Zac | Engaged
Ashleigh was one of the first people I met when I moved down from Mackay to Newcastle. She is an amazing florist who works under the name, The Naked Florist. Just after I had arrived in Newy, one of my clients (and friends) rang Ashleigh and arranged for a huge, beautiful bunch of native blooms to be delivered to my new home, as a thank you for a shoot that I had done of her and her family (see here!). Such a beautiful gesture! Not only was I blown away by the kindness of my friend...but the flowers were AMAZING. They were the most beautiful bunch I had ever received! I quickly added her on Instagram and told her I was a wedding photographer who was new to town, and that I would pop in to her shop on Hunter Street to introduce myself. Ashleigh's bubbly personality, passion for floristry and kindness to me (a stranger) instantly made me feel welcome - which meant so much to me as a newby to town, and a newby to the Newcastle Wedding Industry. It can be really hard to meet new people and break into the industry when you move to a new city. It was something I was super nervous about! But I have been so lucky and have made wonderful connections with other photographers and vendors like Ash.
I had wanted explore this place called Watagans National Park for a while, and as soon as Ash announced that her and her partner Zac were engaged I asked if they would be keen to go on an adventure with me! They were up for it, and we went up there to shoot for the afternoon. I always love shooting in new spots and this one was a goodie. There is a beautiful old Pine Forest there, dirt roads and creeks surrounded by overgrown ferns. Ash foraged for bits and pieces to add to her bouquets, in between us hanging out and shooting.
Here are the shots from our afternoon together! It was so much fun xx
