Ethereal was officially opened on August 1st at Paxton's Upstairs Gallery in Mackay, and consisted of 23 wall based photography works. Ethereal is the result of Khara Deurhof’s month-long artist residency at the Gullkistan Centre for Creativity in Iceland. This was Khara’s first solo exhibition since graduating from James Cook University in 2012 with a Bachelor of New Media Arts.
Ethereal is a collection of photographs showing the dreamlike, natural environment of the Nordic country. Through her work, Khara explores the ethereal elements of the landscape and at times, hints at how these landscapes intercept with the human experience. Her imagery responds to Iceland’s constantly changing colours and textures, from the expanses of rugged terrain down to the tiny details of grasses and earth.
This exhibition was made possible through support from the Regional Arts Development Fund. RADF is a Queensland Government through Arts Queensland and Mackay Regional Council partnership to support local arts and culture.
All works in this exhibition are for sale in editions of 25. Please contact Khara for a price list firstname.lastname@example.org
